RFC: Alternatives to re-seeding heavy-traffic areas

Postby frmadmin » Thu Sep 21, 2006 11:35 pm

The WCA Board is considering alternatives to re-seeding around mailbox and trash/recycle pick-up areas which experience heavy foot traffic. Alternatives currently being considered include soil-stabilization grids, and decorative asphalt and pavers:*

Due to the heavy-traffic nature of the area, re-seeding will not work unless
an alternative trash/recycle location is identified.

Maybe, we could consider a hybrid solution of the 4 choices, we could:

1. identify an alternative trash/recycle location
2. prepare the alternative trash/recyle location for heavy traffic
3. isolate the old heavy traffic area from pedestrian usage for
reseeding.
4. provide a high quality path to the mailboxes.
5. notify residents of these changes so that revitalization may be
successful.

Whatever the solution is, we need the support of the local residents that
use the area. In this revitalization project, it will provide the local residents
an opportunity to improve their surroundings. They should take advantage
of this.
